Five Brothers and a War

Arthur Seyß-Inquart

The bunker used by Arthur Seyß-Inquart in Den Haag. The building looks like a house, by design, but it had enormously thick wall and roof structure. It also has gun positions on top, in the faux roof.

Within the exclusion zone, the Seyß-Inquart bunker and residence were located on a military installation, about 8 km (5 miles) from the Margrietstraat (yellow pin in the distance). Notice in this photo, looking down the coastline from the north, the Haagse Bos just to the left center of the Bunker, is the location where V-2 rockets were routinely fired, as it was difficult for the RAF to locate the rockets after launch. To the left (east) of the Haagse Bos is the densely-populated

Bezuidenhout neighborhood that the RAF accidentally bombed on March 3, 1945. In the photo to the right is the bunker from a closer perspective. Both Google Earth views show Den Haag in 2014.
