Five Brothers and a War
The van Pelts—1400 to 1500 AD
There were several centers in Holland for van Pelt family growth, at least judging by the number of people holding the name. What is unclear is how many of these groupings were related, as it is known that some, unrelated, people “from Pelt” used the name “van Pelt”. One group that is definitely related revolved around the towns of Capelle and Sprang-Capelle, in Noord Brabant. Another grouping was in Schiedam, just outside Rotterdam. What has become obvious is that the family had several spheres of operation, with the one leading to the five brothers heavily ensconced in the small town of Capelle, in Noord Brabant.
