Dutch Football

Anyone who knows anything at all about Holland knows how important football is to the nation. Oranje (“Orange”) stems from the name of the Dutch royalty, the Huis van Oranje (“House of Orange”), or more properly, the Huis van Oranje-Nassau (“House of Orange Nassau”).

Not all Dutch fans are as cultured, or reserved, as the King and Queen however. Gekke Nederlanders (“crazy Dutch”) follow all national sports, but the largest contingents follow the national football teams.
