Vacation to Germany—1936
The area’s natural beauty was beyond question. But, on the other hand, the family also noticed many young men marching along while singing in the typical German style, which had a cadence that lent itself to marching. While they loved the sound at the time, after the invasion of Holland, everyone on the trip immediately hated it with a passion. In retrospect, they realized that they had witnessed the war preparation by the Nazis on their trip less than four years before.
