Five Brothers and a War

Piet in Luxembourg

“IS THAT ALL??? Your mother was sick from worry and you have the gall to casually drop all those cards I prepared in a mailbox you happened to see, and you want to know if that is all? Wait, young man till you come home. You haven’t heard the end of this!” were Leendert’s parting words. From what they knew of his previous actions, the other boys figured that what Piet had in store did not sound too promising. If nothing else, it must have put a damper on that last week of true enjoyment for Piet. Leendert was good at swinging a double-edged sword. When handing out lectures or punishment he accomplished two goals dear to his heart. First to set the offender straight in a way so as to pre-empt repetition, but also to prevent copying by the other boys.
