Five Brothers and a War
Poland
Many Polish soldiers, sailors and airmen, along with military equipment eventually found their way to Allied countries, notably England, and fought alongside the Allies for the duration of the war. For example, the First Polish Armored Division was integrated with the Canadian army that liberated Holland.
Poland was then carved in two, with the western portion being taken by Germany and the eastern part taken by Soviet Russia. Germany had long sought to recombine East Prussia with Germany, and the invasion of Poland accomplished that goal.
