Five Brothers and a War

Wartime Football

During the first half of the war, organized youth football was still going strong. Above is Kees’ team in 1942. Apparently, the photo was organized as the team was organized, with the five forwards up front, and Kees on the right wing, or the bottom-left of the photo. There were apparently three midfielders and two defenders, one keeper, and one substitute. There also are two coaches. The team name was Westerkwartier (“Western Quarter/District”).

van Pelt

This photo was also organized as the team was organized, with the five forwards up front, and Kees on the right wing, or the bottom-left of the photo. Bertus was also on this team, as the center forward. There

were also still three midfielders and two defenders and one keeper.
