Liberated South
Britain’s King George VI visited the British troops in France, Belgium and the liberated south of Holland for five days in October, 1944. While in Holland, he came within a few kilometers of Germany while in Nijmegen. He went to church in Holland, and received a tumultuous reception from the Dutch.
