A movie about the atrocities was made in 1960 called “Two Women” (in Italian, La Ciociara— The Woman) starring Sophia Loren, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress as a result. She also won the award for Best Actress at the 1961 Cannes Film Festival, along with 22 other awards.
