Anton Mussert Arrested and Executed
On May 7, 1945, one day after the German surrender became official, Anton Mussert was arrested in his NSB office in Den Haag. He was tried for treason in November, and sentenced to death on December 12. He appealed to the Supreme Court. His conviction and sentencing were upheld on May 5, 1946 one year to the day after the Wageningen capitulation was signed. His execution was set for May 7, exactly one year after his arrest.
