The Benders, including sisters Henny and Rita, lived on the other side of the Laan van Meerdervoort from the van Pelts at Riƫnzistraat 8, which is the second house from the left in this photo. It was built in 1938, at a cost of f 4,000. The photo below was taken in the late 1940s, after the houses on the right were constructed. During the war, the Benders had a clear view of the Laan van Meerdervoort. The delivery tricycle on the street belonged to the baker. The park in the background was a continuation of the Meer en Bos, as it was before the Laan van Meerdervoort cut it in two.
