Five Brothers and a War

V-2 Rocket

In the early autumn, Bert was looking out of his window toward the main road in the neighborhood, the Laan van Meerdervoort . A convoy of trucks was passing by carrying torpedo-shaped objects, along with a number of tanker trucks. He had never seen the V 2s, but would soon see the first launch from the newly-approved site, just 1 ¾ km from his house, in Ockenburgh . V-2 rockets were mobile, and could be launched from many locations. However, all launch sites had to be carefully surveyed and prepared to be sure that the ground was sufficiently level and stable.

< Map/drawing shows the line of-sight from the house onto the Laan van Meerdervoort.
