Aftermath

Friederich Christiansen, the former Supreme Commander of the Wehrmacht in Holland is arrested near Den Haag. This newspaper is dated January 16, 1946, eight months after the war ended. He was most infamous for his words after the Putten raid/razzia, “Das ganze Nest muss angesteckt werden und die ganze Bande an die Wand gestellt!" ("Put them all against the wall and burn the place down!") Christiansen was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in 1948 for war crimes but was released in December 1951. He died in Aukrug, Germany in 1972.
