Holland is not a nation that uses its land capriciously, particularly within urban areas. When this plot was purchased, it was done with four spaces—one on top of the last. Eventually, all four spaces were taken when Leendert’s coffin was placed on the bottom, then Marie’s, Leen’s and Rita’s. Without paying an ongoing maintenance fee, any gravesite may be cleared after ten years and subsequently sold to someone else.
